Heading 4421 — other articles of wood

Coffee wood dog chews are typically classified under HS heading 4421 ("other articles of wood"), commonly at the 6-digit level 4421.99. The exact 8- or 10-digit code within the EU's own Combined Nomenclature depends on the specific product form and finish, and classification is ultimately your customs broker's call, not ours.

That's a genuine question worth putting to your own broker before the first shipment: what code did your last comparable import clear under, and do they agree it's the right one? Getting this wrong doesn't just cost duty — feed and accessory classifications carry different controls, and a wrong code can hold a container at the port.

Paperwork On Every Shipment

Three certificates, issued in Vietnam

DocumentWhat it confirms
Certificate of Origin (Form B)Confirms Vietnam as country of manufacture — issued by VCCI Ho Chi Minh City
Fumigation CertificateConfirms treatment against pests before export
Phytosanitary CertificateIssued by Vietnam's Plant Protection Department, naming the plant material (Coffea sp.)

Moisture is also measured and logged below 14% on every batch before packing — the reading is sent on request and is separate from the three certificates above.

The EU Deforestation Regulation

What changes, and when

The EU Regulation on Deforestation-free Products (EUDR) covers seven commodities linked to deforestation — including wood — and requires that covered products placed on or exported from the EU market be deforestation-free, legally produced, and traceable to the plot of land they came from.

The regulation's timeline has shifted more than once. As it currently stands: it applies from 30 December 2026 for large and medium-sized operators (and for micro and small operators already covered by the earlier EU Timber Regulation), and from 30 June 2027 for other micro and small operators. Recent amendments have also simplified some due-diligence requirements for certain businesses. Because this has moved before, confirm the current date and scope with your own compliance team or the European Commission's own EUDR pages before treating any date here as final.

For a coffee wood buyer specifically: the wood WINVN uses is reclaimed from coffee trees retired after 20–25 years of fruiting on existing farms in Gia Lai and Đắk Lắk, not newly logged from forest land — which is a materially different traceability starting point than commodity forestry wood. That said, EUDR due-diligence and geolocation obligations sit with the EU operator placing the product on the market, and the specifics of what's required depend on your own import structure. We're a manufacturer, not a compliance authority — treat this section as a starting point for your own team's review, not a compliance guarantee.
